JEE Main 2019 Eligibility Criteria


JEE Main is the exam applied by the candidates who desire to pursue their career in engineering. From the session of 2019, the exam of JEE Main will be condcuted by National Testing Agency and will be held twice in a Year. This National Level exam is conducted for providing admission to an Undergraduate Program for Engineering courses in IIT’s, NIT’s and IIIT’s. Candidates planning to appear for this examination are required to fill up the application Form and submit it before the due date. Candidates should make sure to go through the eligibility criteria thoroughly before proceeding for the Application Form. It should be noted that the eligibility conditions are fulfilled as per prescribed by the examination body. Date of Birth
  • Candidates who are born on or after October 1, 1993 are eligible to apply for JEE Main 2019 exam.
  • Candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD), must have been born on or after October 1, 1988 to be eligible for JEE Main. Candidates of these categories have been given a relaxation of 5 years.
Note: Date of birth will be considered as mentioned in the Secondary Education Board/ University certificate.
Qualifying exam
  • Candidates must have passed class XII or qualifying exam in 2017 or 2018.
  • Candidates appearing in class XII or equivalent qualifying exam in 2019 can also apply for JEE Main.
Subjects/subject combination
  • It is mandatory for candidates to have taken 5 subjects in class XII or equivalent qualifying exam
The 5 subjects for B.Tech/ B.E. are:
1-Language, 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics, 4-Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject), 5-Any other subject

The 5 subjects for B.Arch/ B.Planning are:
1-Language, 2-Physics, 3-Mathematics (compulsory), 4-Any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject), 5-Any other subject
Number of attempts
JEE Main candidates can avail 3 attempts for the national level undergraduate engineering entrance exam.


JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2019

Candidates planning to appear for NTA JEE Main 2019 exam can go through the details of the basic eligibility which is required to be fulfilled by the them. The main points of Eligibility Criteria should be kept in mind before proceeding for the Admission procedure.
Basic Eligibility:
·         Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian Citizen. NRI’s, PIO’s and Foeign Nationals can also apply.
·         The number of attempts for the candidate to apply for JEE Main exam is Three.
·         Adhaar card is compulsory to apply for NTA JEE main 2019.
·         Age Limit: Candidates whose Date of Birth falls on or after 1st October 1994 (for Genral and OBC candidates) are eligible to apply. If candidate belongs from SC, ST and PwD category then the date of birth falls on or after 1st October 1989. It should be noted that DOB in Secondary Education Certificate will be considered valid.
Qualification Criteria:
·         Candidates must have qualified their 10+2 exam and must have passed their Higher Secondary with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational Subject.
·         There is no prescribed Passing Marks. Candidates with the Passing marks can also apply for the exam.
·         Candidates appearing for class 12th exam in 2019 can also apply and appear for NTA JEE Main 2019 exam.
·         Board exam marks will not be taken into consideration. Diploma Holders can also apply for JEE Main but their rank will not be considered.
·         For admission to NIT’s, IIIT’s and CFTI’s, minimum 75% marks (65% for SC/ST students) is required in qualifying examination or must be in top 20 percentile in class 12th examination condcuted by the respective board.
